The house on Lake Winnipesaukee in Merredith N.H. sits within 30 feet of the water. Located near Tommy's Cove. It was built by my father in the early 1960s as a small cottage. As a child I would spend my summers there enjoying fishing, swimming, boating, water skiing, and all kinds of fun stuff a child does.
In the late 80's we turned the small cottage into a nice house. The house has big, wrap around windows providing excellent views of the lake. There is a retractable awning on the big wrap around deck that blocks the hot son and rain, allowing one to relax in the warmth of a summer day.
The big sunny kitchen provides ample amenities for enjoying meals of all types. The 27 foot dock provides hours of fun for everyone who enjoys row boating and swimming. From the dock the views are breathtaking with the Belknap mountains off to the left and Stonedam Island straight ahead and of Tommy's cove to the right. The private beach in front lets you walk less than 30 feet from the house to the waters edge. It is a great place to swim with a gradually declining slope where the water reaches your chin at about 30 feet into the water.
Yes a week or more at this place is never enough. As the summers would end when I was a child I would always look forward to coming back
